What is Bamboo Fiber and it's Special Characteristics? End Uses Bamboo Fiber.

Bamboo Fiber: Bamboo is a natural bast fibre known as green fibre. From the “Bambusabambos” plant this name is derived. For having some benefit over conventional fibres bamboo fibre now on the timeline of apparel textiles. This fibre has some special characteristics like anti-bacterial properties, UV protection, moisture absorption, natural health protection, eco-friendly which differs from the conventional fibres.

Special Characteristics:
Bamboo fibre is now on the front line for having some properties which are summarized below-
1. Anti-bacterial properties:
Bamboo fabric made of bamboo fiber has anti-bacterial properties and its eliminating rate of bacteria over 70% even after being washed. Bamboo has a bio-agent named ‘Bamboo kun’ which is tightly bonded with the bamboo cellulose molecules. This helps to reduce bacteria even after through multiple wash and also give pleasant properties to the cloth.
2. UV protection properties:
Bamboo is 60% better than that of Cotton to protect the sun’s UV rays. The UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) label rate of Bamboo fabric is 18.3 where standard label is 15. To protect the pregnant ladies, children from the UV rays and also for the summer dress Bamboo fiber is most suitable now.
3. Moisture absorption & air permeability:
Bamboo has 3-4 times more absorbency than that of Cotton. So, it absorbs sweat & evaporates it quickly so the wearer is more comfortable & dry for a long time. In winter, because of air permeability it can traps the warm air and makes the cloth warm for long time.
4. Biodegradable & Eco friendly:
Bamboo fibre is a natural cellulose fibre so it can be 100% biodegraded in soil by microorganism. That’s why it doesn’t cause any pollution to the environment. Bamboo yarn can be made either mechanical or chemical process. Overall these processes are more eco friendly than some other yarn process.
5. Anti-static properties:
Bamboo fibre absorbs moisture due to its micro-gaps and for this static electricity is very hard to be generated on its surface. For this bamboo fibre doesn’t contain any electron and thus it is anti-static. This property make the fabric fits for the human skin without clinging it and it flows lightly over the body.
6. Tactile properties:
Bamboo fibre has a basic round surface and fine structure which makes it very smooth, soft and to fit for the human skin. Bamboo fiber is softer than cotton with a texture similar to a blend of cashmere and silk.
For those special type of properties bamboo fibre is now suitable for making apparel, furnishing and many other textile as well as non textile material.

End Uses:

By processing the Bamboo fiber Bamboo yarn can be made and also Fabric can be produced. This fabric now used for bandages, mask, surgical cloths, nurses wear etc. Also from Bamboo, now a days vastly making Towel and other sanitary materials.

As decorating purposes Bamboo fiber now used for making pillow, wallpaper and curtains etc.
